Pumpkin Sunday Funday – 20th Oct

Open 10-4pm, with free entry to the Arboretum to enjoy the beautiful autumn colours, book online to go on a fully guided Deer Rut safari, with have-a-go circus skills and pumpkin trails available too!

This event has now finished. Please check back later.

We are holding an Open Day themed with pumpkins where we will be running Deer Rut Safaris on Sunday 20th October.  Here you can enjoy a fully guided tour on the Tractor & Trailer around the Stourton Estate through woodland and into the deer enclosure to see our herd of Red Deer.  Also included for your entertainment throughout the day is the wonderful family circus from Party Workshops who will teach you how to juggle or ride a unicycle.  You also have the opportunity to wander around the aboretum to find the pumpkins on our Pumpkin Trail!

This is a lovely experience for the whole family to enjoy the autumn colours, get up close and personal with the Red Deer before going to the aboretum to juggle or find your way along the pumpkin trail.  We will also be serving refreshments: home-made pumpkin soup (what else?) plus teas, coffees and delicious cakes from the safari tent.  We will also be grilling venison burgers, bacon rolls and hotdogs for you to enjoy.

The Deer Rut Safaris are limited in number so booking is essential, they will last just under an hour.  Infants under 2 are free of charge, but must sit on knees.

Portable toilets and a Compost Toilet is on site, should you need these facilities!

Please read the Visitor Information tab (above) that has full details of where to meet to join the safaris.  Unfortunately if you are unable to make it to the start point by the tour leave time, in order to be fair to other passengers we will have to start the safari, however if there are places on an alternative tour you may be able to join that one instead.

Visitors should meet at Stourton Estates in the woodland parking area.  This is accessible from the A158, look for the signage on the roadside turning down Clays Lane and following the signs to Stourton Estates.  PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO ACCESS FROM THE CAISTER HIGH STREET B1225.

Once parked in the parking area, please walk into the arboretum through the hand-gate and look out for the Deer Safari Sign on the track where the Tractor & Trailer will leave at the advertised times.

Wheelchair access is available from the elevated platform at the back of the trailer, please make a note of this on your booking if it is needed.

It is suggested that warm clothing is worn as it generally is breezy and can be cold sitting on the trailer.

Visitors should aim to arrive on site 15 minutes ahead of the tour leaving time.
