Sunflowers for Ukraine Sun 24th & 31st July

Come and enjoy a walking trail through our field of sunflowers (approx 1km) and enjoy them in full bloom.  You can take some wonderful photos of the sunflowers along the way and there is a designated ‘picking area’ of the field to cut your stems & take home – so don’t forget your secateurs/scissors!

There is no charge for the sunflower trail, however as Sunflowers are the National Flower for Ukraine we wanted to support the people of Ukraine and we are asking that visitors make a voluntary donation directly through JustGiving to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal – Stourton Woods Sunflower Trail

The normal £4 parking charge (per car, NOT per person) will apply, this charge helps towards the ongoing maintenance of the estate.  Pre-booking your arrival time and parking (below) gives you entry to the car parking field, the sunflower trail and the estate.  Please enter your Car Registration Number in the “Order Notes” field when placing your online booking!

We hope you enjoy the Sunflower Trail and together we can make a positive difference to lives of those living through the war in Ukraine, please give generously.

This event has now finished. Please check back later.

Remember you are very welcome to stay at Stourton Woods all day – on these Sundays we are extending our opening time until 5pm so that visitors have plenty of time to:

  • Wander along the sunflower trail taking the beauty of these naturally uplifting flowers.
  • Wander around the estate and take in the lakes and woodlands ( there are 3 self guided routes 1km – 5km in length)  follow the way-marked trails starting from the woodland parking area – well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead.
  • Book onto a guided deer safari to see the deer calves – tickets available form the roundhouse.
  • Find the gnomes’ favourite songs on the gnome trail – sheets available from the roundhouse
  • On 31st July L-CAT are running off-road safaris around the estate too!
  • Purchase some freshly frozen Venison along with Dog antler chews (while stocks last)
  • Take in some refreshments provided by The Lunch Wagon – delicious Burgers, Jacket Potatoes, cakes as well as refreshing Hot & Cold drinks whilst  relaxing and enjoying your time in beautiful surroundings.

A portable toilet is available inside the main gate and further toilet facilities including baby change & disabled are located next to the safari tent in the arboretum (follow the festoon lighting from the hand gate from the woodland parking area) approx. 5 min walk

As Sunflowers are the National Flower for Ukraine we wanted to support the people of Ukraine with donations from our Sunflower Trail going directly to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal

The DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal is run by ActionAid and other DEC member agencies who are working together to meet all immediate needs including food, water, protection, and trauma care of those living with the horrific conflict in Ukraine.

ActionAid and DEC member agencies are working to meet all immediate needs including food, water, protection, and trauma care. Heavy fighting, shelling and air strikes across Ukraine have had devastating consequences. Over 2 million people, mostly women and children have fled Ukraine, with over 1.2 million crossing the border into Poland. Hundreds of thousands of women and children are arriving with only what they can carry. Hungry, exhausted and traumatised, people are in urgent need of food, water and shelter. People are losing their homes and lives, essential services like water and healthcare have been hit and temperatures have dropped below zero.

ActionAid is scaling up its response to provide emergency support and protection for those forced to flee to Poland, Hungary and Romania. Urgent needs include food, water, shelter, hygiene and dignity kits.

What will happen next is unclear, but with your help, ActionAid and other DEC charities can scale up our response and help families affected by this crisis.

Your donation will be sent directly to ActionAid in a fast and secure way.  Thank you for your incredible support.

We are ONLY accessible from the A158, please look for the signage on the roadside turning down Clays Lane and following the signs to Stourton Woods / the Walled Garden Baumber.  PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO ACCESS FROM THE CAISTOR HIGH STREET B1225.

Once on the Estate after 50 yards turn right onto the chalk road and show your printed email confirmation at the gate to gain access to the closest parking area opposite the field of Sunflowers.

The £4 parking charge goes towards the maintenance and upkeep of the estate. Dogs on leads are also more than welcome to come and enjoy a day out with you too.

Please print out your email confirmation and display in your car windscreen when you have parked.
