School/Field Trips

At Stourton Estates we welcome the opportunity to open our estate to school trips or field trips for groups such as Scouts, Beavers, Brownies or Girl Guides or even social clubs and U3A visits. We can even offer FREE VISITS so all you need to worry about is the cost of transport.

We are an arable working farm with approximately 150 head of Red deer in our parkland. Our trips tend to be ‘half day’ trips and we structure the trip around a tractor and trailer tour of the estate. We can tailor trips to suit the curriculum or interests of your visiting group.

Field Trip Structure and Topics

We are an arable working farm with approximately 150 head of Red deer in our parkland. Our trips tend to be ‘half day’ trips and we structure the trip around a tractor and trailer tour of the estate. We can tailor trips to suit the curriculum or interests of your visiting group but generally we can cover:

  • farming,
  • livestock management,
  • crops,
  • machinery,
  • farm to fork,
  • woodland management,
  • mini-beast hunting

However if you have any special requests or specific curriculum topics you would like us to cover then we would be more than happy to oblige.

We recommend early summer trips as not only is the weather better the estate is in full bloom, wildlife is readily available and our deer calves are arriving in the parkland.

Field Trip Capacity and Accessibility

We can host up to 32 people in one trip, plus the tractor and trailer tour has an elevated wheelchair platform if this is needed.

Catering & Refreshments

You are more than welcome to bring along your own packed lunches or refreshments.  We can however offer BBQ catering where we serve our own venison burgers and sausages as well as cakes and teas, coffees and/or soft drinks. Please let us know your requirements and we can quote on an individual basis.

Cost of our Field Trips

We currently operate under the Higher Level Countryside Stewardship Scheme and in return for some paperwork completed by you we receive some government funding and therefore we can offer free visits for schools.  The timing of this is not restricted, however are limited to a maximum of 20 free visits per year so we recommend booking early. We offer the free trips on a first come first served basis.

Please contact us to find out if you are eligible for a free trip or to allow us to quote for your trip requirements.
