FAQs

How can I be sure your logs are dry/seasoned?
Absolutely sure! All our timber is now kiln dried at the farm at Baumber before being graded & bagged ready for delivery.

What size are your logs?
All logs are cut to 10”/25cm lengths which suit most log burners.

What type of wood are they?
We only use premium hardwood species such as oak, ash, sycamore. We do not blend these with poor species (lime/alder/poplar) or softwoods.

How heavy is a bag of logs?
We do not sell logs by weight, only volume. The large builders bags are 900mm cubed (0.7 cubic metre). Beware of buying logs by weight, wet logs are very heavy and you could be buying a lot of expensive water!

When will you deliver my order?
We make deliveries twice a week, normally on a Tuesday and Friday but may include addition days during very busy periods. We will ring you to advise which day and approximate time of delivery which is normally be within 2-3 days of receiving your order. We try our best to deliver within a given half hour slot as our customers appreciate not having to wait in all morning or afternoon. We deliver using a small van which allows us access to most drives so we can leave the product as close to your house, garage or garden as possible. Products delivered in bags are left in the bags; due to health & safety we are unable to move the bags once they are on the ground and we do not offer a log stacking service. Loose deliveries will be tipped where directed.

What happens if I am not at home when you deliver?
We are quite happy to deliver your products even if you are not at home, just let us know exactly where you would like the delivery leaving. If you have not already paid we will leave the invoice and you can send a cheque in the post.

Can I collect my products?
We run the very popular Saturday Sawmill from mid October to late December, open 9.00 am – 12 midday, where you can collect logs. We also sell round wood billets here for those wanting to cut their own. This is signposted off the Lincoln Road (A158), Baumber. Unfortunately we do not accept collections of our products from the yard as the forklift is often busy with other jobs during the working week.

How can I pay?
You can order online & select ‘pay by cheque’ at the check-out. You will be requested to make your cheque payable to Stourton Estates Ltd and write your home address on the reverse of the cheque. The order will be processed on receipt of the cheque. You can also order online & select ‘pay by Bank Transfer’, full bank details are given at point of ordering. Alternatively you are able to order online & select ‘payment on delivery’ which will generate your order, we will then be happy to accept either your cheque or cash upon delivery. If you wish to phone us with your order rather than place it online please contact us on 01507 578236.
