December 2025 at Stourton

As the year draws to a close, life at Stourton Estate continues at its steady seasonal pace. From exciting wedding news to quieter moments on the farm, we wanted to share a little snapshot of what’s been happening — and what’s coming up.

Woodland Weddings at Stourton Woods

Are you recently engaged? Congratulations! Stourton Woods offers a truly special woodland wedding venue, perfect for couples looking to celebrate surrounded by nature. Our safari tent, nestled amongst the trees, offers a relaxed and romantic setting that can be styled to suit your vision, whether that’s rustic, elegant or somewhere beautifully in between.

We’re also delighted to share some exciting news for couples planning ahead:

Welcoming Our New Bar Provider for 2026

From 2026, we’ll be working with Lucy from Decanter Bar, an award-winning bar provider recognised by the TWIA wedding industry awards. Lucy brings a stunning horsebox bar, ideal for reception drinks, alongside a full bar service featuring locally produced spirits.

We’re really looking forward to working with Lucy and offering couples an even more memorable drinks experience for their celebrations.

Wedding Fair – Save the Date

If you’re in the early stages of planning your big day, our Wedding Fair with Walled Garden Baumber will take place on 17th May 2026. It’s a wonderful opportunity to explore both venues, meet experienced, tried-and-tested local suppliers, and gather inspiration for your big day.

Kiln-Dried Logs – Christmas & New Year Deliveries

stacked logsA quick reminder for our log customers: we close for deliveries over the Christmas period and will reopen the office on Monday 4th January, with deliveries restarting on Tuesday 5th January.

Log orders can still be placed online, and Tina will be in touch early that week to confirm delivery timings.

On the Farm

Winter jobs continue across the farm. The cattle shed has been mucked out, with manure saved ready to be spread on the land next summer.  We’ve also been loading some lorries with grain from this summer’s harvest.  The recent persistent rain has however, put a pause on lifting more sugar beet until January.

While most of the team are enjoying a well-earned Christmas break, Antony and David will be sharing feeding duties for the stock and chickens, making sure everyone is well looked after over the festive period.

Placement Student for 2026–2027

We’ve recently been interviewing for our next placement student from Harper Adams University, who will join us as part of their degree sandwich course. We’ve met some fantastic candidates and hope to confirm the appointment early in the New Year. We always value the fresh ideas and enthusiasm our placement students bring to the team.

Deer Diary

With winter well and truly here, both calves and now the hinds are settled into the roundhouse for the colder months.

We were sad to say goodbye recently to one of our oldest and most affectionate hinds, Blackie. She came to us in May 2012, already in calf, and over the years produced many wonderfully well-natured calves. As she aged and lost several teeth, we fed her barley by hand until nature took its course. Blackie was unusually comfortable around people and always keen for a scratch or a bit of fuss — she’ll be fondly remembered by all of us.

Thank You!

We’d like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us in 2025. Whether you have attended one of our events or bought any of our logs, landscaping products or venison, your support means so much to us.  We wish you and your nearest and dearest a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.  We hope to see you very soon in 2026.
