Outdoor Festival Activity Day: 12th May ’24

We are excited to launch the Lincolnshire Wolds Outdoor Festival at Stourton Woods with an Activity Day on Sunday 12th May 2024 between 10.00am – 4.00pm.

The Lincolnshire Wolds Outdoor Festival runs from 11th – 27th May 2024.  The aim of the festival is to encourage people to take part in variety of outdoor activities and all the area has to offer in terms of sports, recreation, exploration, discovery and fun. The Activity day will include something for everyone, whilst supporting lots of local groups, clubs, organisations and businesses. All the activities will be either free to try or provided at the lowest possible cost with taster sessions available to book on the day.

There is no entry fee for this event, it is £5 per car to pay on the gate for parking (cash only please) which goes towards the upkeep of the venue.

 

There is so much going on here on Sunday 12th May, make sure you wear sensible shoes and clothing in order to take part in as many activities as possible:

Throughout the day find out about Beekeeping, our resident Bats, Gliding, or maybe have a go at a taster session of Seated Yoga. There’s also Archery, Knife, Axe throwing and Crossbow, Football, Tennis, Woodland Activities, CPR/Defibrillation demos, Interactive Army Kit, Demo Bikes, Bait Casting Competition and much, much more….

9.30am Ramblers Association from Horncastle to Stourton Walk. Approx. 4hrs (Free bus service back to Horncastle!)

10.30am Ramblers Association circular Stourton Long Walk. Approx. 4hrs

11.00am Explore the Trees of Stourton walk led by Richard Littlewood from Lincolnshire County Council Walk. 1.5 hrs

1.30pm Age UK Lindsey Sponsored Walk

FREE storytelling Walks (45min sessions) taking place from the arboretum at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm

Estate Walking Routes open for self-guided Walks

Bat/Cellar tours with Lincoln Bat group (30min sessions) taking place from the roundhouse at 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm

Meditative Dance tasters (30min sessions) taking place in the orchard at 10.30am, 11.30am and 1pm

FREE Sound Bath tasters (30min sessions) taking place in the safari tent at 10am, 11am, 12noon, 2pm and 3pm (bring a mat, blanket, cushion and eye mask with you for the best possible experience)

FREE have-a go Wilderness Skills (60min sessions) taking place from the woods in the car park at 10.30-11.30am (Fire Lighting), 12.00-1.00pm (Natural Cordage), 1.30-2.30pm (Natural Navigation0 and 3-4pm (Foraging Walk)

Food & Drink Vendors: Toasted sandwiches, cakes and drinks from Dancing Dungarees, Stourton Estates Venison, Rare Breed Sausages, Bacon and Pork Burgers from The Ginger Pig, Barista Coffee and Sweet Treats from The Very Cool Coffee Bus, and wonderful local Ice Cream from Wrights of Willingham.

Stourton Woods will be open to visitors between 10.00am – 4.00pm.

All activities are bookable on the day so arrive in good time to avoid disappointment.

Visitors must access the estate from the A158 entrance shared with the Walled Garden Baumber, a map showing how to find us is available here.

Parking will be £5 per Car (cash only please) within the field off Clays Lane, What3words///racks.elephant.vessel, and we encourage visitors to car share, fill your car & come in groups!

Look out for the temporary road signage which will be put up on the verges of surrounding main roads indicating access to the venue on the day.
