We love a roaring fire on a cold day! If you are looking for top quality firewood then look no further. Our kiln dried logs are fantastic quality, super dry & graded (to remove dust, sticks etc) before being kiln dried at the farm at Baumber.
Our kiln dried logs are hardwood logs – mainly oak, ash and sycamore. The firewood logs are sold in builders bags sized at approx 0.7 cubic metres. Our logs are cut to around 8 – 10 inches/25 cm. We never blend with poorer species such as lime, alder, poplar or softwoods.
The Benefits of Kiln Dried Logs
Buying kiln dried hardwood logs guarantees that your fire will burn well! When you burn them you will find you need less kindling to get your fire burning and radiating heat. Due to the high calorific value of the timber, once it is up and running you can turn your burner down so a slower burn rate, emitting heat into your room without having to re-stock the fire with logs as often. In addition there will be less ash generated and your chimney will not build up as much soot as conventional barn dried timber. We have just received our certificate confirming our logs are ‘Ready to Burn’ accredited under the Governments’ scheme demonstrating a moisture content of under 20% – and being kiln dried ours measured a moisture content of 9% so they are super dry! Beware of burning freshly cut or unseasoned wet wood as this contributes significantly to high levels of particulate emissions. Conversely burning dry wood has significant and demonstrable benefits in greatly reduced emissions. In addition burning dry wood on modern stoves can further significantly reduce the amount of particle emissions and improve air quality compared to burning wet wood on open fires.

We deliver directly to your door and our small delivery van allows us to leave your bag(s) of logs very close to your place of storage. Delivery is free within a 20 mile radius of Baumber, over 20 miles contact us and we will be in touch to discuss a delivery charge depending upon your location.
