Nicki Marshall is a Certified Essential Somatics Movement Teacher based in a small rural village in Lincolnshire, UK.

Nicki has always had a keen interest in health, wellbeing, and fitness, participating in many sports. Unfortunately, chronic shoulder pain impacted her everyday life and prevented her from taking part in the sports she loved. Traditional treatments failed to provide any significant pain relief. Originally a Commercial Solicitor, Nicki reassessed her work-life balance and set up as an equine behaviour coach in 2020. Whilst attending a horse behaviour course in 2016 she was introduced to Feldenkrais’ work which led her to Somatics. After attending her first Clinical Somatic Education class with Liz Underwood, she finally experienced relief—like the pain switch was finally being turned off. She was inspired to learn more and she continued to work with Liz and began her own regular Somatics practice to overcome her shoulder pain.

Nicki was inspired to share this work to prevent others from wasting time and money and suffering unnecessarily the way she did, so she enrolled in the Essential Somatics Movement Teacher Training and became fully certified in 2022.

Nicki is passionate about helping her clients learn how to unlock their habituated movement patterns, release muscle tension, and find the freedom to enjoy movement again. Nicki also enjoys working with sportspeople to improve performance and reduce the risk of injury. Nicki has a particular interest in helping horse riders become aware of how their body movement patterns can also restrict the horse’s ability to move freely and give riders the toolkit to change.

Nicki teaches group classes and individual sessions which can be provided online and in person.

Access to Stourton Woods is from the A158 about 1 mile west of Baumber village.  There is signage on the roadside indicating Stourton Woods and the Walled Garden Baumber from the main road.  You are looking for a turning down Clays Lane, following the signs to Stourton Woods.  PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO ACCESS FROM THE CAISTER HIGH STREET B1225.  Sat Nav’s are a very unreliable way of locating this venue, however the closest post-code is LN9 5NL.

Parking is down a right hand fork in the road following signage to Stourton Woods in our woodland parking area.

Once parked in the parking area, please walk into the arboretum through the hand-gate and follow the path up to the safari tent venue where we will welcome you with a hot drink.

Please ensure that you bring an exercise mat / yoga style mat.  A bottle for a drink (refillable on the day).  If it’s a cold day a soft blanket in case you feel cold whilst laying on your mat.  A small cushion to prop under you head when lying on your side is advisable, particularly if you have any head, neck or shoulder concerns.

Ideally you should wear comfortable clothing, layers are advisable to regulate your temperature and bring suitable walking shoes / boots ready to go on a walk around the estate at your leisure.

Nicki will contact you with full information shortly after booking your place(s).
